Camino "1.1" is just a few short weeks away as we wrap up some final changes and fixes. Below is the first half of a list of all the bugs that have been fixed since last time we gave a list of fixed bugs. Be careful though, it's a long one...

Camino 1.1 Beta Released

We've just released Camino 1.1 Beta.

While we consider this beta release feature complete, there still might be issues which could hamper day-to-day browsing (though the new, built-in session saving will largely help with any crashes that may happen).

As always, please report any bugs you find.

Pending our remaining bugs and any new issues, Camino 1.1 is right around the corner.

Camino 1.1 Alpha 2 Released

We've just released Camino 1.1 Alpha 2.

This release (along with 1.1a1) is the culmination of months of work and is a good indicator of where we are in our work toward Camino 1.1.

The beta page has been updated with information on the release.

Please note that this release is not our stable version; please download Camino 1.0.3 if you want our stable version. As such, make sure to backup your profile before using this release and report any bugs you find, specifically those in new features or those that are regressed from Camino 1.0.3.

Also, because this isn't a final release, please don't submit this release to MacUpdate, VersionTracker, or other such software trackers. We want our users using the stable version of Camino.

(This was going to be up yesterday morning, but, well…. It's flu season.)

Camino 1.0.3 Release Candidate

Please test this release candidate and let us know any bugs or regressions you find that were not present in Camino 1.0.2. We believe a major "crasher" was fixed when using Bloglines, so test hard on that site.

From the above, you'll notice that Camino 1.1 will not support Mac OS X 10.2. Camino 1.0.x will be the final releases to support Mac OS X 10.2. The next new, major release of Camino will only support 10.3+.

Camino 1.0.2 Release Candidate

We have a release candidate for Camino 1.0.2, which you can download and test.

Please report any regressions you find from Camino 1.0 or Camino 1.0.1 to bugzilla. If all goes well, we'll be expecting a release at the end of this week or the beginning of next.

Camino 1.1 Checkin Catchup

Over the past three months, there has been development toward Camino 1.1 on the MOZILLA_1_8_BRANCH. Since April 22, downloading a nightly from caminobrowser.org yields a build from this branch. This blog has fallen a bit behind listing updates on that branch... until today.

Next Maintenance Release of Camino

The next release of Camino, version 1.0.2, will be coming in about a week. A regression was shipped with Camino 1.0.1, which causes issues for users of Proxy Auto Config files. A second bug, which shipped with Camino 1.0 but wasn't patched until recently, will also be fixed in Camino 1.0.2.

Note: With the exception of bug 322044, the bugs listed below are not fixed on any branch yet, but are planned for inclusion in Camino 1.0.2 (bold indicates a blocker).

While Mike Pinkerton was in Mountain View to be de-eviled by Google, several of the Camino team got together to celebrate the upcoming 1.0 release. Of course, we hope to have a post-1.0 party as well, also in Mountain View. A picture is below.

Fixed the first Undo after showing bookmarks (which used to throw an exception) by avoiding using the bookmarks undo manager for URL bar text operations.
Fixed drag and drop in the bookmarks to show the correct feedback when copying, and allow copying into the containers table again.
Fixed Undo in the url bar to not create undo items for no-op changes.
Fixed the context menu for empty rows in the bookmarks to enable the "New Folder" item.
Also cleaning up bookmarks reading and import code to deal better with corrupted bookmarks files, ensuring that we always end up with toolbar and menu containers.
Fixed setting up the toolbar folder from a bookmarks.xml conversion.
Allow us to read a Safari Bookmarks.plist file as the bookmarks file (rather than an import) in case a user copies it over.
Break assumptions about the container ordering, so that if container folders get moved around in the bookmarks file, we'll still find them OK.
